Coteach is a web app built to help students solve math problems with the help of AI. Instead of throwing every subject and every tool at them, it focuses on one thing: math. Students can get help however works best for them, snapping a photo, uploading one, typing it out, or just talking it through by voice, guided by an AI tutor named Zoe.

AI tools keep getting more powerful, which sounds great until you realize how overwhelming that can be for something as simple as a homework question. That raised a real question for this project: does a student actually need an AI that can do everything, or would they be better off with something built specifically to help with math?

I met with the Product Manager to understand the requirements, benchmarked tools like ChatGPT and Gemini to see what patterns worked well, then designed the full experience end to end, from sign up to actually solving a problem, letting students snap a photo, upload one, type it out, or talk to Zoe (the AI tutor), however works best for them, and wrapped it up with a style guide and prototypes for testing.

Math can be frustrating enough without a complicated tool getting in the way. If Coteach makes one homework session feel a little easier, it's done its job.
